The Digital Health Innovation Lab
AKDN dHRC houses a state-of-the-art Innovation Lab, which works to synergize efforts across the Aga Khan University and facilitate the incubation of ideas from design, development, testing to prototyping. In efforts to respond to the challenges faced by underserved, marginalized populations in low- and middle-income countries, multidisciplinary teams of engineers, researchers, health care professionals, mobile and web programmers and designers collaborate to conduct rigorous, evidence-based research to address pressing global health issues.
The Lab includes two 3D printers for the in-house production of health care devices and prototypes at reduced costs. Through the Innovation Lab, AKDN dHRC in collaboration with the Aga Khan University, has filed multiple patents in Pakistan as well as the USA.
