Approximately 190 government health facilities were assigned to the Aga Khan Health Service, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) to enhance the standard of healthcare provision in the Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces.
dHRC, in collaboration with AKHS, developed the Sehatmandi mobile app to aid in monitoring the performance of these government health facilities.
The tool allows healthcare administrators to record data in real-time on predefined indicators for tuberculosis and maternal and child health services. This is achieved through a digital questionnaire, replacing the previous manual process. In order to address the issue of poor connectivity in the regions, the app has the capability to function offline, enabling data to be synced with the central server using SMS technology.
Over 200 health care administrators in Bamyan and Badakhshan are utilizing the Sehatmandi for monthly clinical and administrative performance monitoring and reporting, after its successful implementation in 75 and 115 health facilities respectively.
The application has been implemented as part of the Sehatmandi initiative, which is a three-year initiative implemented by the World Bank through the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF). The objective is to enhance the usage and standard of health, nutrition, and family planning services throughout Afghanistan.
