With so many vaccines campaigns being rolled out on a global level and the expedited, emergency approvals granted by the World Health Organization for COVID-19 vaccines, the monitoring of vaccine coverage, effectiveness, and safety is a vital to ensure comprehensive and effective vaccination.
The CoviTrac app is an Android-based mobile monitoring tool, which provides frontline healthcare workers with a tool to register patients and record information on vaccine administration activities and any adverse effects associated with the COVID-19 vaccine during field visits.
The app has been implemented in select regions of Tajikistan, including Roshan, Darwaz, Van, Shughnon, Roshtqala, Ishkashim, Murghob and Khorog.
CoviTrac allows healthcare workers to conveniently create a profile, record information on risks and co-morbidities and vaccine administration, track vaccination schedules of patients for follow-up doses along with reasons for refusal, and document co-morbidities and resultant reactions associated with the COVID-19 vaccination.
Since its launch, the app has facilitated 5,489 vaccinations have been administered.
