The new service allows patients at FMIC to consult with and receive diagnosis and treatment from an ENT specialist at AKUH, K.

Live teleconsultations in ENT are now being offered at the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) from the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi (AKUH, K) in Pakistan. Patients at FMIC can consult and receive diagnosis and treatment by an ENT specialist at AKUH, K.

The first live teleconsultation session involving one patient was conducted on April 20, 2015. Dr Syed Sabir, Head of Section, ENT Specialist at FMIC consulted with Dr M Sohail Awan, Section Head, Otolaryngology and Associate Professor, Department of Surgery at AKUH, K regarding the patient’s condition.

AKDN eHRC developed and incorporated an ENT module in VirtualDoc to assist with patient registration. Clinics will take place on a bi-monthly basis and 4-5 patients are expected in each clinic.
