Message from the Director, AKDN dHRC

Dear Readers,

The COVID-19 outbreak has put the world in an unprecedented challenging situation, forcing government and health care leaders around the world to collaborate and think more creatively about health care service provision. In response, countries around the world have adopted innovative, technology-intensive methods of delivering care using existing resources, reducing dependency on external resources, and working towards self-sustainability.

Similarly, the Aga Khan University made efforts to conduct research and innovate to resolve global health problems with local solutions, like the evidence-based 3D-printed nasal swab for COVID-19 testing kits.

The use of technology across all domains, whether health, education or research, has never been explored with this momentum. In this special COVID-19 edition, I invite you all to learn more about the exciting research and innovations that the Digital Health Resource Centre has spearheaded during the pandemic and more!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on our innovations, so feel free to get in touch with me at saleem.sayani@aku.edu.

Happy reading!

Sincerely,

Saleem Sayani
